The Blipstar Philosophy*

Be helpful
  • Be open, honest and reasonable. 99% of people will return the favor.
  • Listen to people, and put yourself in their shoes.
  • Do everything in your power to make people happy, even the grumpy ones.
Keep things simple
  • People using the web are almost always in a hurry.
  • Make their lives as easy as possible: short, sweet and obvious is better than long, boring and complicated.
  • Nobody reads instructions.
Enjoy it
  • If working doesn't feel like working, you're on the right track.
  • Keep on improving - learning new things is fun.
  • Money and "stuff" doesn't bring happiness. Earn enough to pay the bills then give the rest away.

And the Blipstar Philosophy has led to a successful service being offered to thousands of users since 2006...

* Notes:

Based on experience, pretty much nobody bothers reading "mission statements", "core values", "strategy documents" etc. Why? The vast majority are meaningless words. You know the type of thing:

"Our mission is based upon a recognition of the need for an inclusive approach geared towards organisational engagement underpinned by a total commitment to quality."

or

"We are dedicated to pursuing a long-term commitment to customer satisfaction by education in personal goals at the highest level."

The last one was generated by Net Insight's Corporate Mission Statement Generator which is scarily close to the mark! One thing is for sure though: you can tell alot about an organisation, large or small, by its website.
